The earlier series used a 4-9/16″ jamb depth with a single-rail sill system; current production runs 5-1/4″ with a composite thermal-break sill. The label is inside the hinge stile, visible when you open the door 90 degrees. If the label’s worn, measure the jamb depth through the interior trim.

Signs Your ViewLux Door Installation Is Failing

• The panel drags or sticks in the frame. This usually means the sill cap has worn through at the high-traffic point, or the frame has settled due to inadequate shimming during the original install. In Princeton, we see this most often on south-facing doors where the concrete stoop expands against the sill.
• Visible gaps between the door and the weatherstrip. Compression seals harden in Florida heat; ViewLux specifies a silicone bulb seal that lasts roughly 7-9 years in South Florida’s UV exposure. Once the bulb cracks, you’re losing conditioned air and gaining moisture.
• Water pooling at the interior threshold after rain. The weep holes in the sill are either clogged with construction debris, or the sill pan was never properly integrated with the flashing. On slab-on-grade homes near Krome Avenue, we’ve found weep holes completely buried by paver settling.
• The multipoint lock won’t throw all bolts simultaneously. The gearbox inside the mortise mechanism has stripped, often from forcing the handle when the door is warped or out of square. This is a security issue; a single-point latch is not a locking system.
• Condensation between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit has lost its seal. ViewLux uses a dual-seal system, but edge deletion failures happen, especially if the door gets direct afternoon sun and the spacer bar flexes through daily expansion cycles.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a short list of checks that won’t make things worse. Verify the weep holes are clear. Confirm the hinges are tight to the frame. Check whether the strike plate has shifted. Beyond that, door replacement involves setting the unit plumb in three planes, integrating the sill pan with the weather barrier, and dialing in the multipoint lock so all bolts engage without binding. Get any of those wrong and you’re looking at water intrusion, air leakage, or a door that won’t secure.

We don’t recommend homeowner removal of a ViewLux door with impact glass. The units run 180-240 pounds, and the frame-to-rough-opening tolerance is 1/4″ total.
